Inclusive Opportunities.
Lasting Impact.

In 2020 we launched the Chancerygate Foundation to make a future in property available to African and Caribbean heritage students in the UK. We believe nobody should be prevented from accessing and thriving in the property industry because they didn’t go to the right school or have the right connections. The Chancerygate Foundation programme supports students directly and proactively – through education, access to real work experience, and, of course, financially – to help give students an unbeatable start to their career in real estate, no matter their background.

Bursary

A bursary of up to £10,000 per student, per annum, to support them in their undergraduate studies and essential living costs whilst studying a RICS accredited degree at university.

Mentoring

Mentoring supports young people in personal growth and provides social and economic opportunities. To help guide the students through their courses, we provide them with mentors from within the industry. With direct contact to the mentors, the students can reach out when they need assistance on their studies or a person to speak to.

Work Experience

Working with our industry connections we help secure useful, valuable and educational work experience for eligible students, so they can get an authentic, tangible taste of what the industry has to offer.

My Journey as a Chancerygate Foundation Bursary Graduate

I am proud to be one of the first Chancerygate Foundation bursary recipient graduates.

Finding out I had been granted the scholarship was one of many highlights during this journey so far and lifted an enormous burden off my shoulders. I no longer had to worry about working to contribute towards my expenses – instead, I was able to enjoy and make the most of my three years at university.

Through a career in property I am eager to fulfil a life dream to change the conditions of social housing and to diversify the industry.

From Aspiration to Achievement

I am currently studying Land Economy at Cambridge University with the benefit of being a Chancerygate Foundation bursary recipient. Being a part of the Chancerygate Foundation cohort has allowed me to acquire skills and knowledge that I’ve been able to leverage through meaningful relationships with multiple organisations. I’ve worked very closely with a mentor from Cushman and Wakefield, who has taken vast amounts of time to support me, offering me work experience that has been insightful and inspirational. This is in addition to being available to help me look at various paths for a future career and introducing me to others in the industry, expanding my network of contacts.

I’ve also been able to attend and engage with Black professionals by attending We Rise In events looking at various leadership styles and listening to their individual journeys, all of whom took the time to meet with me and offer advice and insight. I’ve had the privilege of attending various events organised by Chancerygate Foundation and hosted by corporates such as Lockton and Monatgu Evans. This has broadened my perspectives on employment prospects and provided vast and valuable insight into various potential career paths.

How the Chancerygate Foundation is Shaping My Future

I am an undergraduate studying Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying at Loughborough University. I was very fortunate to be offered a Chancerygate Foundation bursary for the three years of study and this has allowed me to be financially independent throughout my degree. I am currently on a paid placement year with RLB allowing me to continue my independence with all the benefits of support from the Foundation.

Chancerygate Foundation offers programmes to help with our personal development as well as acquire skills that are transferrable into my current work placement. I have been offered help with my CV and LinkedIn profile to give me the best opportunity of finding the placement I am now on. Through the Foundation I have had the opportunity to make lifelong connections and receive support throughout my journey.

I must also add that Chancerygate have been very supportive of my disability. Having Cerebral Palsy creates difficulties with transport and venues booked for our meetings. It is these small considerations that make me feel included in all the events arranged. As a Foundation student I feel I am part of a family and have met lifelong friends through the experience.
