Each of the fifteen new units achieved an EPC A+ for energy efficiency which means that the energy needs for running the building are met by rooftop solar panels.
The units, ranging from 5,490 to 34,670 sq ft, all achieved BREEAM excellent certification. Features included high-quality thermal insulation, air tightness in excess of building standards, LED lighting with daylight and activity sensors and 15% rooflights providing natural daylight. Air source heat pumps were installed in the office areas which are up to four times more efficient than conventional HVAC systems and means that there is no fossil fuel needed to power the building. In addition, a total of 636 kWp of solar panels were installed across the scheme.
