Chancerygate to take on the Thames Path to raise money for charity

This year, Chancerygate has decided to continue to fundraise for Sparkles and Parkinson’s UK with the objective of raising at least £20,000.

In order to raise this significant sum, we realised we needed the whole team to undertake a significant challenge! With that in mind, on Friday 21st June, the Chancerygate team are undertaking either a 13 or 27 mile run/ walk of the Thames path between Hampton Court Bridge and Tower Bridge. This will mean that between the team we will be running/ walking over 500 miles which is the distance between our most southerly scheme in Poole, Dorset and our most northerly scheme in Livingston, Scotland – and yes, we are already in training!

How do charitable donations help support the work of both Sparkles and Parkinsons UK?

Sparkles
Sparkles supports pre-school children with Down’s Syndrome living in and around Buckinghamshire, providing speech, language, physio and occupational therapy. The therapeutic support offered is a valuable addition to NHS services.
Sparkles requires around £40,000 annually to continue running at the current capacity, and there are more children wishing to join all the time. Since being formed the charity has helped over 100 children.

Parkinson’s UK
Donations to Parkinson’s UK help fund research of the disease with the objective of finding better treatments and ultimately a cure as well as providing information to and supporting those affected by Parkinson’s. For example, £140 pays for 10 helpline advisers to provide support and information, £48 funds a clinical researcher for 2 hours and £20 funds an hour of care from a specialist Parkinson’s nurse.

How to sponsor us
Please click through to our Virgin Money Giving page if you would like to sponsor the team. All donations made to this link will be split between Sparkles and Parkinson’s UK, with the donation going directly to the two charities. Chancerygate will be covering all costs of the event.

We will be providing updates regarding the event here on our website as well as through our social media pages. The whole team will be very grateful for any support that you can give to us and these very worthwhile charities.
