Chancerygate plans £20m Merseyside logistics development

Leading industrial and logistics developer, Chancerygate, has submitted a planning application for a new 212,000 sq ft development at Dunningsbridge Road in Liverpool.

The 13.5 acre site is close to Peel Ports’ recently launched Liverpool 2 deepwater port, and was the former Peerless Edible Oils factory which closed more than 20 years ago.

The new development will be known as Mersey Reach, and a planning application has been made for five separate self-contained industrial and logistics units ranging from 11,500 sq ft to 90,000 sq ft. Subject to planning consent, a 36,000 sq ft unit has been pre-let to Grafton Group Plc to trade as a Selco Builders Warehouse.

In addition, a two-acre plot on the front pf the site has been pre-sold to Euro Garages which, subject to planning, plans to build a petrol filling station plus a drive-thru Starbucks coffee store.

Mike Walker Development Director for Chancerygate in the North West commented: “We believe that the new deepwater port will create extra demand in the area for modern logistics buildings suited to the needs of 21st century occupiers.

The two occupiers we have already secured will create 130 new jobs and we anticipate that the scheme as a whole could ultimately provide over 375 jobs, which should come mainly from the immediate surrounding area. The site was identified as a strategic Employment Site in the Sefton Local Plan and we have worked closely with Sefton to bring forward a scheme on a key gateway site that meets both their and our aspirations”.

Colliers International acted for Selco and Aherne Property Consultants acted for Euro Garages. Agents on Mersey Reach for Chancerygate are CBRE and B8 Real Estate.
